Regional Biocontainment Laboratory

The Regional Biocontainment Laboratory is one of only 13 in the United States. It consists of seven BSL-3 enhanced containment suites, BSL-2 labs, lab support spaces and offices to accommodate the microbiology, immunology and pathology research programs. These programs focus on infectious diseases and require isolated facilities to prevent contamination of the experiments, researchers, environment and the public. RK Mechanical completed the fabrication and installation of the full mechanical system, including the variable air volume (VAV) system, PVC duct, steel pipe, hot and cold water, air vacuum gas, medical gas, deionized (DI) water, steam and all other mechanical features included in a typical laboratory facility.
