October 26, 2017 – The ABC Colorado Excellence in Construction annual awards event, recognizing outstanding construction projects in the Rocky Mountain region, was held on Friday, October 21 at Infinity Park Event Center in Denver, Colorado. RK submitted three projects that highlighted our work in 2017, and we are proud to announce that all three projects won awards!
- Award of Excellence: Colorado State University Aggie Village – RK Mechanical
The CSU Aggie Village site redevelopment project replaced the former building constructed in 1960. Aggie Village features three new buildings containing 431 housing units and a total of 973 student beds. RK Mechanical served as the design-assist mechanical contractor completing the design, fabrication and installation of the mechanical systems for all three buildings as well as a standalone heating plant and central plant for chilled water.
- Award of Excellence: University of Colorado Colorado Springs Village at Alpine Valley – RK Steel
To accommodate student growth at UCCS, the Village at Alpine Valley was developed. The project consists of three buildings offering 515 beds in suite and apartment-style units and a fourth building that hosts an indoor and outdoor dining hall and marketplace. RK Steel was contracted to fabricate all structural steel and miscellaneous metals for all four buildings, including exposed steel beams.
- Award of Merit: 245 Columbine – RK Mechanical
Located in the Cherry Creek North neighborhood, this mixed-use structure is a modern-meets-retro building that features The Halcyon Hotel; two street-level upscale restaurants, Departure and Quality Italian; a rooftop restaurant, Departure Elevated, and the hottest and most exclusive speakeasy-style bar in Denver, The B&GC. RK Mechanical served as the design-build mechanical contractor completing the design, fabrication and installation of the mechanical systems for all five businesses in this ground-up building.
Congratulations to all of the RK employees that worked on these award-winning projects!
