RK's Response to the COVID-19 Outbreak

RK is monitoring the global and local impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and fully understands the precautions necessary to ensure we flatten the curve. We’re taking extreme safety measures for our team and our customers.

Healthy Hygiene
RK is insisting that all employees diligently practice healthy hygiene habits to avoid exposure to this virus. Anyone who is ill, with any contagious illness, is expected to stay home.

Project Site Precautions
The health and safety of RK employees and trade partners is our top priority. We are taking steps to keep everyone healthy by reducing the risk of contracting or spreading coronavirus. RK is providing disinfectant wipes for use on frequently used hard surfaces in the field and hand sanitizer for frequent use in the field throughout the day. All large group (over 10 people) meetings or gatherings are postponed until further notice. Any large group meeting that must take place needs to be done using remote conferencing technology tools. Morning stretch and bends must follow social distancing recommendations of 6′ between individuals, and no handshaking is allowed.

Remote Work
RK supports remote work for all employees who are able to do so, especially those who are immunocompromised or who have an underlying condition, which makes them more susceptible to infection, for the foreseeable future.

Travel Restrictions
RK has restricted business travel until further notice. Employees who have traveled to any CDC levels 1-3 locations on the watchlist are required to self-quarantine for 14 days from the date of return to the United States.  Employees must be symptom-free for 14 days to return to work.

Meetings
RK has limited in-person meetings, is practicing social distancing, and using remote conferencing technology tools. We are utilizing remote technology tools to keep our people and our partners connected. We have expanded our network capacity to allow for many employees to work remotely.

Communicable Disease Policy
RK has implemented a new communicable disease policy due to the outbreak. It addresses questions and clarifies expectations on how RK will respond to communicable
diseases like the flu, common cold and coronavirus, in our workforce, workplaces and in the community.

Supply Chain
RK is monitoring worldwide supply chains for delays that may impact the schedules of any of our projects. Our team is doing everything reasonably possible to mitigate and minimize any project impacts. RK will work with, and inform customers directly, with specific information, should any impact occur to a customer’s project.

How it Spreads
It is suspected that it is transmitted through coughing and sneezing of infected individuals, similar to how influenza spreads. At the present time, there is no vaccine, cure or specific treatment.

Signs and Symptoms
Individuals infected with coronavirus have displayed the following symptoms:

  • Mild to severe respiratory illness
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Difficulty breathing

The time interval from infection to onset of symptoms is from two to 14 days. During this period, an individual can be infected and spreading the disease, although they may not be experiencing the signs and symptoms of the virus.

How to Protect Against it

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Use your elbow only if you have to. The clothing on your elbow may contain the infectious virus that can be passed on for up to a week or more.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces with antibacterial wipes.
  • No handshaking.
  • Use disposal gloves when shopping, pumping gas or touching objects often used by he
    general public.
